A black hen has been dodging cars, captors and coyotes for two months. Officials say the bird has been darting into traffic outside Glendale Community College since it was first reported Nov. 20. The chicken has drawn a growing crowd of photographers and journalists as animal control officers struggle to catch it.

Austrian emergency officials are defending their use of money machines in ambulances, to demand payment before treatment. "During the ambulance ride, the crew started pushing buttons and then they said: 'Sorry but we have to charge you €230" said the 45-year-old holidaymaker from Berlin. "They were obviously very embarrassed." Austrian emergency services defended the measure, saying it was often difficult to track down payment from foreign tourists once they had returned home.
