Westlife: 'We don't want McFadden return'

So after the weekend's X Factor performances by JLS and Westlife and Take That with Robbie again, all the questions are being asked should Brian McFadden rejoin Westlife. How Ever I don't think its the same as the Take That situation!

Westlife have revealed they won't ask estranged bandmate Brian McFadden to return to the group.

The band, who performed their new single 'Safe' on last night's X Factor results show, said that seeing Robbie Williams return to Take That has not encouraged them to contact McFadden, who left the group in 2004.

Shane Filan told The Daily Record: "Seeing Take That with Robbie again has not encouraged us to get Brian back. If he did come back, we'd be thinking, 'Is he happy with what we are doing now?'"

Mark Feehily added: "We are Take That fans so are excited about it happening and it also ups the ante for us. When there is no competition, you can get a bit lazy so it's good to have another band back."

Filan continued: "It is great ammo for our label to give us the best material rather than give us something that might be second best."

'Safe' is currently at number 11 on the iTunes chart. Their tenth studio album Gravity follows on November 22.

Crickets have the biggest balls haha!!!!

Found this story on the BBC website

Bush cricket testicle size clue to promiscuous mating

Tuberous bushcricket Platycleis affinis (S Taylor) The bushcricket's large testes (in white) may be for mating with many females

Scientists have found a bushcricket species with testicles that account for up to 14% of its body weight.

It is the animal with the biggest testicles in relation to its body weight, they write in Biology Letters.

In a study of their mating strategies, the team found they release only small amounts of sperm at each mating.

That suggests the big testes are for mating with many females, not producing competitive volumes of sperm for each encounter.

Significant research across the animal kingdom has shown that male testicle size is correlated to the degree of promiscuity within a given species.

The more partners a female has, the larger the male's testicles are likely to be.

Larger testicles produce more sperm, and a long-standing assumption has been that a kind of numbers game is played out within the female to fertilise her eggs.

The male that provides a higher amount of sperm in that scenario has a higher likelihood of fathering offspring.

Many experiments in vertebrate species - including in our closest primate relatives - have borne out that idea.

However, an alternative hypothesis is that larger testicles permit a higher total number of mates, rather than a higher amount of sperm allocated to a single mate.
Heavy burden

Karim Vahed of the University of Derby and his team began their studies by measuring the testicle size of 21 species of bushcrickets (also known as katydids).

While proportional testicle size ranged widely across the species, the team found that one species - Platycleis affinis - far surpassed the previous record for the proportionally largest testicles.
Comparison of testes mass as percentage of body mass - bushcricket v fruit fly

The previous holder was a species of fruit fly - Drosophila bifurca - whose testicles to body weight ratio has been recorded as 10.6%.

Their testes make up some 14% of their body weight - roughly equivalent to a male human with testicles weighing five kilograms (11lbs) each.

However, in studying the amount of sperm that the crickets produce each time they mate, they found a surprising result.

"Males with bigger testicles are actually producing smaller amounts of ejaculate," Dr Vahed told BBC News.

"This very much favours the alternative hypothesis: that it's about the number of different females the male can fertilise, rather than getting a greater success per female."

Dr Vahed said that although this is in contrast to results from vertebrates, it breaks down an inherent bias in science to favour theories about animals most similar to us.

"One important message is that we shouldn't expect that exactly the same rules and situations apply across all species; it can be an either-or."

I'd vote for her!!!

I'd vote for her!!!

A Polish pop singer is courting controversy by attempting to branch out in politics with help from a sizzling election poster.

Katarzyna Szczolek is standing for office in her local authority in Warsaw, in elections later this month.

But Miss Szczolek, who sings under the stage name Sara May, has been criticised for the way she is portraying herself.

One election poster shows her stretched out on a beach wearing just a skimpy bikini with the slogan: "Beautiful, independent, and competent."

In another campaign poster, she is seen cuddling a cute puppy alongside the slogan: "Honest, sincere, direct and uncompromising."

"I live right here with the voters. I walk the same streets, go shopping in the same stores and have the same problems as everyone else," she said.

But the singer, who has resorted to snogging female friends on stage to stay in the focus of media attention and bolster her sagging pop career, has come in for ridicule in the constituency.

"Who's she trying to kid?" asked local man Tomasz Muchy. "I can just imagine how she'll go down when turning up at a council meeting, assuming anyone knows who she is."

NEW YORK | Mon Nov 8, 2010 10:17am EST

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Whoever invented the 'laptop' probably didn't worry too much about male reproductive health.

Turns out, unsurprisingly, that sitting with a computer on your lap will crank up the temperature of your nether regions, which could affect sperm quality.

And there is little you can do about it, according to the authors of a study out today in the journal Fertility and Sterility, short of putting your laptop on a desk.

The researchers hooked thermometers to the scrotums of 29 young men who were balancing a laptop on their knees. They found that even with a lap pad under the computer, the men's scrotums overheated quickly.

"Millions and millions of men are using laptops now, especially those in the reproductive age range," said Dr. Yefim Sheynkin, a urologist at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, who led the new study.

"Within 10 or 15 minutes their scrotal temperature is already above what we consider safe, but they don't feel it," he added.

So far, no studies have actually tested how laptops impact men's fertility, said Sheynkin, and there is no bulletproof evidence that it would. But earlier research has shown that warming the scrotum more than one degree Celsius (1.8 degrees Fahrenheit) is enough to damage sperm.

Under normal circumstances, the testicles' position outside of the body makes sure they stay a few degrees cooler than the inside of the body, which is necessary for sperm production.

"I wouldn't say that if someone starts to use laptops they will become infertile," Sheynkin told Reuters Health. But frequent use might contribute to reproductive problems, he said, because "the scrotum doesn't have time to cool down."

According to the American Urological Association, nearly one in six couples in the US have trouble conceiving a baby, and about half the time the man is at the root of the problem.

Both general health and lifestyle factors such as nutrition and drug use can influence reproductive health.

However, Sheynkin said tight jeans and briefs are generally not considered a risk factor.

"Clothes should not significantly change scrotal temperature, because you are moving around," he said.

To hold a laptop on your knees, however, you need to sit still with your legs closed. After one hour in this position, the researchers found that men's testicle temperature had risen by up to 2.5 C.

A lap pad kept the computer cool and also made sure less heat was transmitted to the skin. But it didn't do much to cool the testicles, and might give "a false sense of security," according to Sheynkin.

Brand new song from Michael Jackson - Breaking news

Katy Perry to Strip!!

Heres a story about newlywed Katy Perry. We all know shes HOT and so with the story below in some of today's papers, heres a tribute to the Lovely Katy!!

Perry spurns naked photoshoot

Katy Perry has vowed never to strip for Playboy magazine - she's planning a sexy, Dita Von Teese-style burlesque photoshoot instead.

The I Kissed a Girl singer is known for her fun-filled, saucy stage antics, but she's adamant she would never bare all for the popular men's magazine.

Instead the newlywed wants to tease her fans with a flesh-flashing shoot - complete with racy black lingerie and vampish make-up, inspired by burlesque beauty Von Teese.

Perry tells Cosmopolitan magazine, "I like to play that sexy card because it's fun and definitely in my deck, but I like to tease. I'm like a burlesque girl. I definitely won't be doing a Playboy spread but I will be doing a kind of Dita Von Teese style."

We're in at No. 5

Good news for Irish people this week and for Ireland in general. In a recent study done by the UN, we've been ranked at number 5 best place to live in for quality of life.

It's all here in yesterday's Irish Times

Even though all we read about in the papers and hear on Radio and see on TV is economy this and recession that and job loss here and there, its nice to know that people outside of Ireland see us as a sustainable country.

We're sick of doom and gloom and yet thats all is reported in the media. Yes we have financial worries and yes we are facing a tough budget and yes people are struggling to put food on the table and for that theres no excuse but I for one was thrilled to read this article in the paper, because it finally showed Ireland in a good light.

New breakfast man on 2fm Hector Ó Heochagain was on with Ryan Tubridy on the late late only a few weeks ago, and made an excellent point!

He spoke of the Chilean miners and the ordeal they've been through and how all we've seen on TV and in the paper plus heard on Radio was all positive news regarding the safe rescue of each and every man who had been stuck down the mine. Wasn't it brilliant to not pick up a paper with the headlines "COUNTRY SCREWED" for at least a few days anyway.

I'm not really too sure how I got off topic in this post however, the next you feel like screaming because of RECESSION then think of Ireland as the 5th best place to live in World.

Death is Sexy??

Here is a way to drum up some new business! Make a calendar, put have naked women in the month's photos and then lay them over coffins..................

Coffin makers have taken the lid off the raunchy side of their business with a racy calendar of drop dead gorgeous models.

The calendar - produced by Polish funeral experts Lindner - shows models in sexy lingerie draped over the caskets performing movie scenes from films like James Bond, Reservoir Dogs and The Godfather.

The black and white cover shows a close up of a woman in a frilly thong and suspenders holding a gun behind her back, while on the back a couple are seen apparently making love on top of a coffin.

Inside, the months begin with a man being forced in to a coffin at the barrel of a Tommy gun and end with a curvy topless blonde posing in front of a mirror.

Company spokesman Bartek Lindner said: "It has a sort of Hollywood feel with a darker edge."

But the calender featuring models from the UK, Germany and Poland has sparked controversy in Catholic Poland.

"This is simply tasteless and shocking. Death is not sexy and the connotations presented in this calender are disturbing to say the least," said church spokseman Father Tadeusz Rybnik in Warsaw.

This is not the first time Lindner has come in for a grilling. Last year it provoked similar outrage when it released another calendar of half-naked models posing alongside coffins.

"Last year we sold over 3,000 copies of the calender, this year we hope it will be more," said Lindner.

James Bond on the Go again!!

Good news today as well about the future of the 007 movies........

The future of the James Bond franchise appears to be secure following a landmark financial deal to save the MGM film studio.

Daniel Craig's third outing as the superspy in the 23rd 007 picture was put on hold after the company fell into debt and executives failed to find a suitable buyer to pull the firm out of trouble.

Lord of the Rings prequel The Hobbit also suffered severed delays as MGM bosses struggled to break the financial deadlock.

But executives have now announced the company has been saved by a debt-restructuring deal with Spyglass Entertainment, the U.S. company behind last year's Star Trek and recent comedy Get Him to the Greek.

The deal was announced on Friday and is set to be made official in the coming days.

A statement from MGM bosses reads, "MGM will now move expeditiously to implement that plan, which will dramatically reduce its debt load and put the company in a strong position to execute its business strategy. MGM is appreciative of the lenders' support."

Poor Lily Allen

Shcoking news about the legend that is Lily Allen. Just as I went on air today November 1st 2010 I saw the news about her un-born baby.........

Pop star Lily Allen has suffered a miscarriage.

The Smile singer, who was around six months pregnant by her boyfriend Sam Cooper, was admitted to hospital on Thursday morning after complaining of stomach pains.

The 25-year-old spent the weekend being treated by doctors, but efforts to save her baby tragically failed, according to The Sun.

A statement from the star's representative confirms the news: "It is with great sadness that we have to confirm that Lily Allen and Sam Cooper have lost their baby.

"The couple ask that their privacy be respected and that they be left alone at this deeply distressing time. No further comment will be made."

Allen previously suffered a miscarriage in 2008 just months after she announced she was expecting a baby with Chemical Brothers star Ed Simmons.

She has been dating decorator Cooper since July 2009.

Time Travel??

Watch this video closely, it appears to be a woman on a moblie phone back in a Charlie Chaplin film in 1928!!

Blind commentator doesn't miss a ball

What a legend!! I stick by what i've said before, that sports broadcasters are the most talented you'll ever hear on radio. And heres why!!

Cricket commentator in Zimbabwe keeps his listeners up to date with every ball - despite the fact that he is blind.

Dean Du Plessis' acute sense of hearing and his eavesdropping on other commentators help him overcome his disability.

He listens to the speed and spin of the ball, along with the players' exertions and their cries of elation or frustration. He senses the excitement - or otherwise - of the play on the cricket field and collates the scores with a computer-like memory.

In the media area at Harare's Country Club sports field, other journalists see the ball soar skyward after a sharp crack on the bat.

"That's a big one. It's gone for six," said the 33-year-old Mr Du Plessis, his opaque eyes gazing into the distance. It has, flying way out of the field.

In a faster-moving sport like football, Mr De Plessis' feat would be impossible. He asks a friend to confirm the score on the board and feeds the latest to state radio.

"I have to ensure I am totally accurate," he said. "I'm generally spot on or very close. I think I have a pretty big hard drive in my head."
